no connection to internet or control panel

584 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  johnwill
My lap top won't connect to the internet (wireless or via a cable). When i click on the icon on the bottom of the screen i cannot 'diagnose and repair' or get to the network and sharing centre. I cannot access my control panel or anything else that might help me to actually connect to the internet. However when I open task manager and click networking, it shows that the wireless is actually connected. Any ideas on what to do next?

and welcome to the Forum

try this. With the pc cpnnected to the router:

Click on Start . . Run . . type CMD

At the > prompt type type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Come back here and Paste the results in a message.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

If you can't access the control panel, you have more serious issues than simple networking!
