The last two days 27 and 28th of november I have booted up my computer and have gotten the message 'no burning drive found' both days I have fixed the problem by doing a system restore back to the 26th of november. My burning drive is drive D:\ . Does anyone know what is going on here or how to fix it to a more permenant state.

I suggest that you once again restore back to Nov 26. The next day when the message appears, check the Reliability Moniter to see if a Windows Update, program update, driver update, etc... is installed.

I had to do this:

1) Close all open programs
2) Click on Start, Run, and type REGEDIT and press Enter
3) Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
* SYSTEM
* CurrentControlSet
* Control
* Class
* {4D36E965-E325-11CE-
BFC1-08002BE10318}

Delete "Upper Filters" and "Lower Filters"

Reboot machine and check in device manager the status of the cd/dvd

Mine has been fine since.
