Hello, recently I installed Windows 7 32-bit on my Lenovo 3000 J115-26U desktop. I ran the Win7 Upgrade Advisor before installing and it had no mention of audio issues. When I first installed, the sound icon in the tray had a red x over it. I scanned for hardware changes and it installed a generic HD Audio driver. Now, it seemed like I had sound. It can even see I have speakers plugged in. But I still have no actual playback. The speakers are my output devices, all of the audio-related services are running, I even went and uninstalled the generic driver and installed the Windows Vista SoundMAX driver (since Lenovo does not appear to make one for Win7)

So, what do you guys think I should do to solve this problem?

-Thanks in advance

before installing the hd driver you need to install the uaa driver for win7
From what I've read, Win7 comes preloaded with the UAA.

Hi -

Windows 7 compatibility list --> http://www.microsoft.com/windows/co...Inc.&uid=&l=en&pf=0&pi=0&s=soundmax&os=32-bit

Creative SoundMax codec site --> http://www.conexant.com/products/entry.jsp?id=558

You need a Windows 7 compatible codec. The one for Vista is too old.

I followed the 2nd link to the Conexant site, but was unable to find a download link for the codec. I've been Googling for it all day to no avail.

I ended up putting an old sound card in and 7 found the drivers for it (Creative CT5806). Thanks for the help, anyways.
