No Add ons

I am running Windows XP, Internet Explorer 8. Internet Explorer tells me I am currently running with add-ons disabled. When I choose to manage my add ons I have no option to turn them on. In order to see my home page I must click on the home icon. I do not have this problem on my laptop. Can anyone assist to fix this problem on my desktop?

Thank you,
Carol

Where are you running IE from? ie a shortcut on the desktop or from some where else?

If you click Start => Run and type in IExplore and press enter do you get the same message?
I would try Go The Power's suggestion and if that doesn't work for you, you could be opening Internet Explorer with a bad desktop shortcut.

If this is the case, you should be able to fix the problem by right clicking on your Internet Explorer icon --> properties

On the Shortcut tab where it says Target: make sure that "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" is entered.

Click apply and then try opening Internet Explorer again from that icon.

Does that solve your issue?
