Hi everyone. The recovery thread for the Toshiba, of course, does not cover the A35. Came with no Recovery Disk Creator. The A65 has the ISO or simular in a i1386 folder.

No recovery disk either, as the A65 used to belong to my niece. Good old Toshiba kept them when she sent it in for repairs and said she had no proof that she sent them with the computer.

Is it possible to make a recovery CD from the i1386 folder? I do not believe that the A65 has a recovery partition, but uses the i1386 folder for recovery.

Can the the Recovery Disk Creator be downloaded and installed for this purpose?

One last question. Could someone tell me what button to press at bootup to start fresh (recovery) on the A65. No worries, my A65 is still working fine, just need a future plan.

Thank you.

hi Marvin,

Get in touch with any Toshiba authorized service center (see Toshiba website) and buy the recovery CD from them. This is your best option if you do not have a recovery partition.

Also you can try power ON the laptop while pressing 0 (zero) key. if that does not give you access to recovery partition, try tapping F10 or F11 during boot up (when Toshiba logo appears).

If you're in this position, consider using backup software to make an image of your hard drive as it is now. This is a much better recovery tool than going back to the beginning.
I bought a USB-to-SATA adapter which came bundled with software to clone the drive and put a bootable clone on a spare drive. In the event of a hard drive crash I'm all set.
One caveat: If you're using Vista, make sure it says VISTA on the box of whatever hardware and software you buy.
