I purchased a new G-Force FX5200 for my Athlon 1200 and while the video drivers seemed to have installed properly, there are other "devices" that Win2000 "found" that refuse to install.
They are:
I have uninstalled them numerous times, and the Hardware Wizard keeps finding them and trying to install the Drivers, but each time it fails.
I ran the "nVidia VGA DRiver Installation Disc" that came with the Video Card several times to no avail, and I have downloaded the most-recent drivers for the FX-5200 from nVidia's web-site and tried to install them also. Which also fails.
I just bought the FX-5200 from NewEgg, so I assume the quality of the component is good.
The only other "anomolous" things I have noticed is that the CD looks pretty cheesy. It's "name" (in Windows) has a couple of odd, square characters, which could be Asian text that didn't translate, or indication of corrupted data. But the newly downloaded nVidia drivers should have ruled that out as a possible cause, right ?
Also, the VGA Driver disk won't run the VGA Driver Set-Up program. An Error Message: "Can't Execute D:\Driver\Win2000\Setup.exe" results.
I've tried every trick I can think of. The HD is malware-free, with recent scans of AVG and Ad-Aware.
Can anyone help me to figure this out ?
Thanks in advance.
