New Sony battery will not charge

I installed a new Sony BPL13s battery in my Vaio VGN-Fw490 and it will not charge. It was delivered with a dvd-rom with BPS8 and BPS9 Bios ? Any suggestions??? I've tried to install the BIOS8 or Bios9 but the machine responds that I shouldn't run this program? Help and thanks
