I guess you dont need XP PRO and XP home would be fine as this costs a lot less (1/2) and pro is only needed on 5+ machine networks.
There are plenty of other options for OS's win98/ME are easily come by for $5 there are LINUX OS's for free but i wouldnt recomend this unless your familier with them or you are very comuter literate already.
The best action would be buy XP home.
