Hi All.

My old motherboard stoped working, So I went out a got a new one.

Now each time I boot up the computer I get.

*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xFA17BA98,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

From what I have read on the inernet so far this is somthing to do with drive issues.

Can anyone please help me to get this computer back up and running with out needing to wipe and reinstall eveything, or reloading, as I don't have my windows cd's to hand.

Thanks for your time.

hi mad professor,

when it comes to installing a new motherboard, its best to install a fresh o/s on your hdd. probably the reason why you are getting the stop error is becasuse the hdd still has drivers from the old motherboard and its conflicting with the new motherboard.

if you didnt want to reformat your computer and assuming your old motherboard didnt die, you couldve uninstall all the devices in the device manager and then install the new motherboard.

its probably best at this time to backup your data and install a new o/s.

Someone must know how to sort this without needing for format or re-install.

I don't care what extra software I have to get, as long as I can get this computer backup and running ASAP.

Have you tred using the XP install disk to 'repair' the install? This might give the OS a chance to install the correct drivers.
