This ASUS laptop's mic does not work, however it seems to pick up whistling noises when I play back the video. No other sound/voice can be heard after I record something.

In control panel, it shows that everything is working fine, and I set the recording level to 100.

PLEASE NOTE: If you're trying to record music from your PC it won't work.

I record using different programs and the only thing i can hear when i play the video or sound i recorded is whistling (I just tried whistling one time and i noticed it worked)

And its not music from my pc

What "programs" are you using?

I recommend Audacity. - for ALL MIC recording.

Nah man I am not trying to record anything... just using webcam and creating videos and stuff on lifeframe

Under Lifeframe's description is states:

"It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available."

Do you think you have all the right drivers for both your MIC and Webcam?

Well, first check if you have them by getting this program.

NOW, once you've downloaded it - run it.

Refer to this page.

NOW, take a screen grab OR just post a log of all your drivers located there.

Also - go to Device Manager, expand the Sound branch & un-install all. Right-click on each and select "un-install". Then re-boot when all are gone.
START | devmgmt.msc

Vista will re-install upon re-boot.
