New Harddrive

I just bought a new hard drive(100gb)for my older puter(pentium2) and cant get it to recognize it.........i am not a computer wiz but have been told i need to upgrade my bios............this puter was hand built and does not have a brand name...........where on the motherboard or where can i find the info needed to to find out brand where i can look up the up grade on net? This hard drive will work on this puter i hope. Thanks for any info.

Welcome to the forums Nedraebs.......................

On the first black screen you will see upon bootup there will be a string of numbers on the bottom left of the page.

Something like

2A59L-XXXX-XXX
Or
51-1506-XXXX-XXXX
Or
12/09/1999 i440LX

Write down these numbers exactly as you see them and post them here...This should lead us to the Mfg.

Thanks for the reply Speedo........the numbers that come up are as follows...............12/05/97 i440lx ite8679-2a69jh2bc-00............any help is really appreciated.......thanks

Your Motherboard is the Shuttle Hot-637

Bios, Manual and drivers are here.

Download the manual and see if the pics of the board match.....
