Had hard drive failure, replaced hard drive, now no modem is found. Do I need to install new one or download driver? Installed OS from System Recovery CD/DVD
Actually, if the modem was in the pc when you took the computer out of the box than buy using recovery cds those drivers should all install automatically.
Step 1: Go to device manager and look for bangs, "!" or "?". Replay with what those are called. Also tell us if there is a device called "modems" in that list in device manager.
Right, check device manager see if you have your modem listed there under "modems", we need to check if the pc can still detect your modem -- maybe it's loose if it's an internal dial up modem.
Ran several checks for modem, every thing I tried resulted with the computer asking to connect to the internet to look for new driver. No modem listed under device manager.
