My new system I have made is:

MSI K7N2 Delta
512MB PC3200
XP 2800 333FSB
GeForce4 Ti4600

Just a warning, I don't know if this is software or hardware. So I will post this in both forums.

After I installed everything, I put in, and hookup the HD that already has WinXP Corp(bottleg =[), which runs on my other computer. I startup the computer and let it run. After showing the diagnostic jargon, it continues loading, and goes to a black screen, after that it flashed a BSoD(Blue Sreen of Death) really fast, and restarts.

After this, I put in my backup 24GB harddrive, which is formated and rdy to run. I proceed to install WinXP again, just to see if that works. I continue to boot from the CD and WinXp loads all of the drivers from the CD. Before it even gets to the confirmation screen to install/format WinXP, I get a BSoD again. IT says "Windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer. Try to remove useless compentents you don't need and turn of caching blah blah blah..." I try installing windows over and over many times and still get the BSoD(Blue Sreen of Death) OR a message will pop up saying "cannot install windows missing file windows/i386/i forgot the name sorry...". WOE IS ME!

I talked to friends of mine and they told me I may need a fresh copy of Windows because it may have files left out or something. I am not sure, so I am posting on the forums just to make sure.

Many Thanks!

uhh,

i think this applies to the situation i was mentioning, when someone tells you they are wanting illegal info.

i dont think anyone will help you with your "Bottleg" (bootleg i am assuming) windows XP problem.

not that i care that you have a bootleg copy, but we arent supposed to help, and especially not if you showed illegal intent.

better luck next time.

Well if it doesn't at least you can call Microsoft and let them straighten out any issues you are having..........:D

hmm

as far as if a new copy will solve your problems, it just might.

it could however be a software problem, but i wouldnt try to install something like a bootleg copy of xp on any machine i didnt know for a fact was working.

(for example only)
i have made some copies for backup of all the os's i own.
some of them are modified in some ways, like a win98se disk that is also a 2.88 meg floppy boot emulation disk with the old dos on it.

they seem to all work fine for me, so unless it was copied badly i cant think of why it would be a problem. so it might be a hardware issue, the only way to know if it was in fact the cd is to use a neat little program that comes with 98se and some other versions of windows (or an equivilent tool) to compare the two disks and see if the backup is a good copy.

on 98se it is windiff.exe

but thats just mostly pertaining to legal backups...

heh

who? me?

no, faceless obviously has one. but all my copies are backups of originals i still posses, even if the originals are unreadable...

well, some of them i found ruined, and copied someone elses discs, but thats legal, i have an original, with a key, for every copy i own...

but i know that a good clone is usually a working copy.
unless it was done wrong.
