Hi all,

Just recieved a new computer today but there seems to be a loading issue and I figured this would be the best place to ask.

I set everything up correctly and turned the system on just about an hour ago and it seemed to boot just fine recognizing all of the connections and loading past the Windows XP screen with the scroll bar; however right after that I'm taken to another XP screen that says "please wait" instead of the desktop/user panel/introduction screen. I waited for 20 minutes initially but there wasn't any change so I reset and tried again; waiting 15 minutes this time but still no change after that screen. I figured it may be a peripheral device so I disconnected the mouse and the keyboard reset and tried again. Same problem this time around as well; this time I let it sit for at least 30 minutes and it's still at the same screen as I'm typing this on another PC.

I don't know if this is a hardware issue or a problem with XP so if anyone's familiar with this I could really use some help.

try a performing a check disk repair and see if that helps. boot up with the windows xp cd. first though you will need to go into the bios and change the first boot device to cdrom. save settings and exit the bios and put the windows xp cd in the cdrom.

then the computer should boot to the cd and in the main console, choose repair. then the computer will ask you for an admin password but if you dont have one, simply hit enter. then on C: type in"chkdsk /r" without the "" and make sure there is a space between chkdsk and /r. this should take a bit of time and after this process is finish, restart the computer and boot into windows normally and see if the problem goes away. good luck

Is it a clean install of windows?
:4-dontkno should be. This was my first time starting it up. I loaded it in safe mode after making this thread and got a message saying that Windows installation wasn't complete. So I just tried to re-install it using the back up discs from cyberpower but the installations keeps getting stuck at the registering components stage.

tried that but I'm not getting the repair option; only the install.

I didn't want to but I guess I'm going to have to call CS. :ugh

Did it come with windows installed? or did you install windows?
It was supposed to have windows installed, and I'm assuming it was installed at some point or another or it wouldn't get to the windows load screen. I tried re-installing it last night but I keep getting stuck during the "registering" stage of the process.

OK so now I have a new or different problem. I'm trying to re-install XP but it keeps freezing at the end of the 'registering components' stage. The cursor still moves and the OS info page still rotates the information but there's no progress with the install past that point. I've let it sit for about an hour but no change.

Who did you get this system from? It sounds to me like a hardware problem. If you bought this from a company I would take it back and tell them what is going on.
