Hey there, just built a new computer through iBUYPOWER and, clearly, I've picked a bad part or two or three, as my computer gets two or three BSODs a day. Sometimes these happen during games, sometimes while on YouTube, sometimes just while playing music and using Chrome at the same time.

I've attached the .zip as instructed, please help me figure out what needs doing or what parts need replacing.

And since I forgot the rest of the info:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Processor: AMD FX-6100
Age of system: One month
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti
Motherboard: ASUS M5A97
Power supply: Generic, 600 watts. Think I may upgrade this soon.

Chrome.exe
win32k.sys
ntfs.sys

Uninstall Chrome and use firefox

boot into Safe mode
Press "windows key" + R"
Type "SFC /SCANNOW"
Let it run and finish
Reboot

Download all the latest drivers from Asus's website for your motherboard including the chipset drivers
Also download the GTX 550TI drivers from Nvidia's website

Use Driver sweeper to uninstall your current drivers
Reboot
Install the new downloaded Drivers
Reboot

Run Driver Verifier and see if you get another BSOD
if so post the new dump files here

All these drivers are already up to date, except the BIOS, which I have yet to update because ASUS doesn't offer their regular update procedure for 64-bit systems, blah blah blah. Is it still important to uninstall these drivers then reinstall the same version back, or should I just proceed to use Driver Verifier? Or should I update the BIOS first?

Never mind, went ahead and did a clean install of those drivers after using Sweeper. Using Verifier now, will let you know after the next BSOD.

Edit: Okay, won't worry about a BIOS update then.

You do not want to do a BIOS update unless you are having a specific issue and BIOS update notes say that it will fix that specific issue

Most important drivers which many of us forget to update or install are "chipset" make sure to get those first and install them along with audio, LAN, video etc

Did a clean sweep on all my Nvidia drivers, took it down to nothing then used driver sweeper to get rid of the remaining few files (PhysX seemed to leave some stuff after the uninstaller ran) and installed everything back.

Then got another BSOD while exiting a game today. Minidump attached. Thanks for your help, sorry this is being so persistent.

Welp, the problem just got significantly worse. I suspect the motherboard died. Now when I press the power button on the computer, the LED light turns on, but there are no other signs of life. The monitor never receives an image, the keyboard doesn't get power, etc. Looks like I'll be giving iBUYPOWER a call tomorrow, presumably I'm still on warranty after a month.

Is the extra 50 watts the key ingredient or just the brand reliability? Or something else? I'm reading your other link now, but it's naturally a bit overwhelming on first scan for someone who's new to all this.
