:upset: I am trying to connect my Windows 98 Desktop to my Windows 3.11 Laptop by Serial port connection. My Windows 98 is set up for it but my laptop is not is there a way to do this....

Geez. You're going to have to search the web and microsoft.com on how to do this. It's possible, but everyone that might know has since forgotten. There is software like Laplink that does it, but you'll never find a 3.11 version of it ...

Off hand, you need a null modem cable and maybe a special protocol like SLIP.

I have laplink for win 3.1 3.11 / 3.11 for workgroups. very easy to use com port or lpt. I would be happy to copy it for you if that would help. It still does not give networking protocols neccecary to do the web. but data transfer yes

ZIP221 is a little free application that will work in a DOS session under W98 and Win 3.xx.

Illegal? It is my own copy. and so old its probably gnu buy now. I have always paid for every bit of software I've ever owned. "illegal copies of applications" , do you even know that that curtails? Never been accused of doing anything illegal in my life. Nice welcome to this forum. ri2000, if that other application does'nt work for you (hope it does), I would be happy to give and mail you my original disks and box that it came in.

If you're transferring the program in it's entirety to the person, that's perfectly legal, however that's not what you initially offered.
