Networking Security Issues

I have been having TONS of issues with my wireless home network, most of which I won't go into. But I thought I would ask about one oddity I noticed.

So I have a netgear adapter on one of my computers. When I scan for networks, I get a list that includes mine and some of my neighbors'. In the security column, some are listed as WPA-PSK and some are listed as WEP.

In trying to solve my networking issues, I have tried both a linksys and a netgear router. With both routers, I set up WPA security, but both times, my network came up as WEP in the adapter wizard.

Is this a problem with the adapter or something with my cable connection? I assume it can't be the router since I have tried two and had this problem both times.

Sounds like the adapter or driver is not properly recognizing the AP's encryption. I'd be looking at the driver first.
