hi
i have a Verzion wireless fiber obtic modem in one room and in the next room i have 2 computers and a printer.
when i set it up wireless i get a bad or weak signal.
so this is what i would like to do:
connect the 2 computers and printer to a wired switch and connect that wireless to the modem
will this work?????

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Make and model of the broadband modem.
Make and model of the router.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Make/model of your computer.
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP2, Vista, etc.

Also, please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.




On any problem computer, I'd also like to see this:

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

When I say make and model, I actually mean the make and model Westell and Linksys make lots of products, not to mention Dell.

I looked at the diagram, but it's not clear that your solution will solve the problem. Since you have a wireless issue, how does changing to a different wireless connection solve the problem? Is it not possible to run a wire? Have you tried resolving the wireless connection issue?

ok i looked it up and the type of router is WRT54G.
dell 8400 and dell 4550
when i have the two computers wireless then they work very slow but when i have just one then it is fine
also i need fast speed so i would like to do it the way that is in the attchment

Where is the router in your picture? With the modem or with the other equipment?

If the wireless router is near the wireless stations, is there any reason you don't use a wired connection?

For the wireless connection, have you tried changing the wireless channel on the router?
