Hey,

First off, go to start > run > type "cmd" (w/out quotes) to bring up the windows command prompt.

then type "ipconfig /all" (w/out quotes) and hit enter.

right click and select all and then hit enter and paste the results in here. (If you need to save the results as a text file and use some sort of portable storage media i.e. flash drive to copy the results in this thread.

I am the IT dept. normally I am able to view settings and such through windows but I get an "un expected error" message when I try to view the properties. I have done a sys restore.

From the varied symptoms, I'd say you have more issues than just a DNS server! DEP issues sound more like system corruption or hardware errors.

I have a felling that when I get the networking issues taken care of that everything else will fall into place. This something that I haven't seen before. even the little network connection icon is missing from the system tray.
