Since you provided no make/model for the router, the wireless card, or the ISP and O/S in use, it's hard to offer any suggestions.
network card issue. help!
im having an issue with my network card. my problem is that im getting 11mb speed with it when it is suppose to be a 54. as well as the other computers in the house have a 2000kbs download speed difference than my computer with the wireless. but the upload is fine. anyone know how i could resolve this issue. ive tryed running a virus scan deleting files and cookies and reinstalling the card.
im somewhat computer literate but if you could just explain things in detail incase i dont understand.

Well... yes. If you have an 802.11b router, you can't expect faster speeds than it's capable of.
