Hello Ania and welcome to Tech Support Forums................:D

Is this a new machine or has it been running on a network with the same hardware?....................

Are the drivers for the network card installed?

Take a look in the device manager and see if it has a yellow question mark next to network adapters.

Along the lines of what Der Robe is saying, if the other end is unplugged or the port is disabled, Winders will think the "cable is unplugged".

The way I understand it, its a hub its just supposed to be like an adapter plug and allows everything to connect together - when the connections are working then a little green light goes
on.....?

Have you tried moving the cable to another port on the hub? Possibly:

A.) the port you're using is bad
B.) The port you're plugged into is an MIDX (cross over port)
C.) You might have a cross over cable.

Is it the same cable you've been using for a while (known good working cable)?
