So I have a HP Stream 14 cb100. A few days ago I went to turn it on and it said that I could not use my PIN because of recent security changes. I do not recall doing a system update. I ended up having to do a complete reset without saving my files because the computer would not recognize my password even though I had just changed it and knew it was correct. When I got back into the system the wifi network adaptor driver was gone. I do not have a manual wifi button and under Settings and Networks and Connections there is no wifi option. I tried to run the troubleshooter which said I did not have a driver installed. I tried to download the appropriate driver from HPs website by using my phone to tether to but it did not work. When I go into Device Manager the driver simply isn't there even when I click show hidden drivers. There are however, a bunch of miniports which are all caught up to date. I have tried to run a network reset and to reset the IP to no avail. I ran a BIOS update and a SFC scan with no results. Then I went into the registry to the network folder and there is nothing in the folder and the network connection folder says there is an error and it cannot open. Is there anything I can do?

Click the Notifications icon next to the clock. Click the Expand Link. If Airplane Mode is enabled, turn it off. Click the Network Icon. Manually turn Wi-Fi back on.

use an internet capable computer and download the driver to it then using a usb stick transfer the driver to your laptop then install the driver HP Stream 14-cb100 Laptop PC Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Customer Support
I used my phone to tether to the computer so I had internet and downloaded that way but nothing happened. It went through the install manager and opened cmd but never showed up in device manager even under hidden devices. Will doing this on a different computer and transferring via usb work better?
