We have a network here at our place of business that was installed by the pc technician that handled our upgrade. We initially only had a embarq wireless router/modem and was hooked directly to our only pc. Now we have 2 pc's, and have networked our facility to accomodate many more. This is what the connection looks like.

DSL Line to Embarq router/modem--> D-link ebr2320 wired router--> Ethernet cord to printer, pc 1 and pc 2 from d-link router.

How can I access the wireless router? If i hook the main computer directly to wireless router I get nothing, even when I enter the router's IP address. When I do the switch, I ensure that the DSL line is correctly hooked to the wireless router and that the main pc is rebooted.

What is going on?

If you want access to all machines to the router, you can do a couple of things.

One would be to lose the D-Link router and just use a switch there. You already have a router, so the second one is redundant.

when i remove the d-link, and hook everything to my embarq dsl router, i can't connect to the internet. am I doing something wrong? Are we "safer" using a dlink router vs the one embarq gaves us?

Connect your single machine that works on the Embarq router and post the following information.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.
