I am able to access the internet when either of my computers (one Win98 and one XP) is connected directly to the modem, but, through the Netgear router rp-114, no access is possible.

It had not been a problem until last night.

What should I do?

Reset the router to factory defaults, and then try it. Also, when you change the device connected to a broadband modem, you should cycle power on the modem, leave it off for at least 15 seconds. Also cycle power on the router.
