I recently bought this Netgear wireless modem router.

I used the Netgear setup wizard.

I chose WEP 128bit encryption for the security option just because I'm sure my wireless adapter will work with that, and chose a passphrase.

My problem is that the manual, website, and everything else Netgear provides does not explain to me how, once I've security enabled my network, I'm supposed to *connect* to that network --> I can't find anywhere to enter the passphrase on my PC/wireless adapter. So the wireless adapter, though it is able to see my network, cannot connect to it.

Am I missing something?

It should prompt you for the encryption key when you search for new networks. If it doesn't, try removing ALL the stored wireless network profiles and searching again.
