Needing a mentor

842 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  jcgriff2
Hello. I'm creating a project in Visual Basic 2010 and I need a mentor that has dealt with Visual Basic. I need a mentor because in my class we were told to pick some kind of project and chose to do programming, specifically VB. And with the projects we have to have a mentor that knows a decent amount on the subject.

I don't know a whole lot about VB, just the simple things like creating a button that will make text appear on a textbox and using a button to open and browse your through your folders. I will discuss the details about my work when I have found a mentor.

If anyone would like to help me and become my mentor, then please contact me by email.

Thank You.

If I'm not mistaken, we may not help you on school projects. Although as it is part of your project to have a mentor, that may be a different matter.

Depending on how simple the program is I may be able to help you with it. Although if you can find someone more experienced I suggest that person.
Hello!

This doesn't sound quite right to me...this is not usually how mentoring works. Usually, it is someone you meet physically meet. I would consider it abnormal to try to find a mentor online...

I am certainly very willing to help you, but I think you need to ask your tutor about how to go about approaching this. Are you supposed to find a mentor within the university (ie contact one of the tutors) or someone you meet etc.

I really don't have the time, or the skill in VB to offer myself. I am sorry about that, but I will certainly help where I can.

I think you need to ask your tutor.

What do you think?

Thanks!

Richard

Well I just now thought of going to community college site and contacting one of their programming teachers. So depending how it goes, I may not need to use these forums, but thanks for the people who have responded. But if there are some people that would like to help me, I would be more than happy.
We can help out where possible with specific items, but not help you do an entire project that one would usually do on their own, i.e., you need to do the work, study, etc... but if you get caught on something and are "spinning your wheels" getting no where, please post for help and we'll see what we can do.
