I have recovery media for an Averatec 3250 laptop, however its cd/dvd has been incredibly sketchy/stopped working months ago. I wiped the hard drive with Darik's boot and nuke run off a usb flash disk and now I wanted to reinstall an operating system.
In BIOS I have the option to boot off "USB FDD", "USB RMD-FDD", "HDD", "CD/DVD", or "Intel UNDI". I have 3 recovery media disks that came with my Averatec. I tried to simply copy and paste the contents of the 1st recovery media cd over to a usb flash drive and only allowed my averatec to boot from the two usb options but it didn't recognize anything (I assume I need to do something more to make it autorun but I don't know how). The Darik's boot and nuke ran off usb, so I do know my averatec can run off usb. All I can do currently is get into BIOS and then when I allow my HDD as a boot option it says "Boot failure / Reboot and Select proper Boot device / or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device / Press any key when ready". Also tried cd many times and it isn't working.
I am going to donate my laptop to a clinic I was working at in Kenya. They don't care that the cd drive is broken and use usb so it isn't worth the money to buy a new cd/dvd drive. I have a wide variety of usb flash drive and usb hard drives I could try to use.
Any ideas?
