hey

this is going to sound really stupid but i need to upgrade my desktop pc's hard drive and was planning on buying an internal hard drive....but i dont know which one to get. is there something like crucial.com/uk that tells me what type of hard disk i have currently got on my system.

yes that drive will work for you provided your hard drive is solo on its IDE data cable now ????

IDE data cables can connect two drives together / but thats the limit


in your shoes I would look for the same drive but in SATA spec


the thinner sata cable is better for case air flow / they are alittle faster than IDE drives / and you will be sure not to "out grow" yoru IDE channells

his board has two sata plugs but his controller may well only be for raid :4-thatsba


dont risk the "maybe" go with the drive you linked for the Hitachi

so should i go for the hitachi then?
