Need ram help!!

I just built a new computer and I have installed 8gb of ddr3 ram but when I open up the system info on windows XP it only shows that I have 3.25 gb of ram and I have a 3ghz processor and it shows that my processor speed if 800mhz. How do I fix it!?

Is your windows XP 32 bit or 64 bit. If it is 32 bit it will only recognize the 3.25gb or ram. Not sure about the processor problem though I am sure someone on here will have a suggestion for you!

Have you checked what the bios reads? Does it show the full ram & processor readings?

A 32 Bit OS can only see up to 3.75GB of RAM and 4GB is more than enough for any game and most all apps.

Try downloading cpu-z and see what that displays for CPU speed and RAM size.
