Hey all. Alright, here we go.
A couple of months ago I bought new stuff for my computer. A Radeon 9700 pro, a new motherboard (elitegroup, don't remember model), an AMD2000+ (1.66), and a new case. So, I assemble my precious using my old stuff except from what I bought (meaning HD, monitor, ram and so on). Everything works fine for almost exactly 1 month, when it suddenly turns itself off while i'm playing warcraft3. I try to start it up again, but nothing happens. Well, the fans on the CPU heatsink and on the videocard is spinning, but I don't get any beep from the videcard switching on or anything. No flashing lights on the keyboard and nothing on screen. After thouroughly (sp?) checking cables and checking memory is in position and even swapping the socket for the memory, removing hardware and so on, I finally removed the battery and started. YAY! The thing started to boot up. But it halted and said there was an error in CMOS. Ok, maybe not so strange since I removed the battery, so I choose to load default settings. It seems to work since it even starts win98. So I put the battery back in and start up again, but a couple of minutes later it turns itself off AGAIN! I try to remove the battery again, but this time it doesn't help. Here is where I am now. I am clueless as to what to do.
My own suggestion is a corrupt BIOS. Please, can you give me some tips, hints, help, anything that can help me restore my computer would be appreciated. Or do I simply have to turn it in for service...
It sucks when you buy new stuff for 700 bucks and it lasts for a month. And sorry about the long descriptions. Just wanted you to have as much background info as possible. Thanks
