Parents have windows 10 and this morning the had a pop-up on the screen saying it was from microsoft talking about suspicious activity on the computer and to not shut down or restart computer and to call the number. My parents called the number before contacting me and the lady said she was from microsoft and pointed out a program called Web bar which was new and they don't know where it came from. Lady highly recommended my parents buy a virus scanning program or something which thankfully they didn't. They didn't give any personal information but did allow the person access to the computer (I know that's a no no). I removed Web bar and ran malwarebytes and Avg anti-virus after getting the pop-ups to close. Parents couldn't get them off the screen. I then opened Firefox and got a similar pop-up only this time from cox (isp) with the same stuff about suspicious activity and a different phone number.

What can I do to ensure the computer is safe now? I took a picture of the pop-up I got and is similar to what they had too.

Ok. I just read through that. I put the computer in safe mode and started another full computer virus scan since the computer was just acting funny. I had to come home to lay my son down for a nap so I'll go back and follow these instructions when he wakes up. Thanks!
