need help with HP pavilion dv9500

My dv9500 usually runs fine for the first 1 to 3 hours but after that it'll start acting up. My work consists of me opening alot of iexplorer windows. After the initial 1-3 hours, my laptop would refuse to open more then 5 windows at a time. It applies to any other programs that I try to open too. A reboot usually fixes it but after another 1-3 hours it'll happen again. I noticed this happening a few days after i bought this laptop last November until now. Any help would be really appreciated.

have you checked your temps lately? try SpeedFan or NHC just to monitor your temps (within the 1 to 3 hour period).

i have read somewhere that a 'safe operating temp' is like a 'safe driving speed'... keep it below 50 (deg. C that is) :grin:

This may sound stupid but are you using your laptop on a hard solid surface as opposed to a bed? Proper ventilation is important and beds typically will snuff the living daylights out of any laptop.

Yes it is always on the cardboard box that it came in even when it's being used in bed.

i am not quite sure what cardboard box you are referring to here but i suggest you remove it from there and make sure your vents are free of any covers or obstructions. you can use a cooling pad but really not necessary.
