Ok, well i bought a e-geforce 4 mx 440 for my computer, installed it and the drivers and software. After that i tried to load Warcraft 3 The frozen throne and it froze within a few minutes. I let the computer sit there for a few more minutes waiting for it to say something, but it did not so i powered down my computer and turned back on. Afteer that i tried counter-strike to see if thats working and to my surprise after about 30 seconds it froze and wouldnt move. i have heard much about this card not working in the same way but the solutions are pretty vague. So if anyone could help me that would be great. My sys. specs are:
compaq presario 5000
20 gig hd
192 mb of RAM
Windows ME edition ( worst OS of all time)
and evga.com e-geforce 4 mx 440 SE
i am in a tight fix and am need of someones help. if i cant get it to work i will take that piece of crap back and spend 10 mroe dollars on a ATI radeon 9000 off ebay, but i still would like to get this one fixed!

PARTIAL [email protected]

Hey, if anyone out there is looking for a solution that might help is to uninstall the games or programs that are not working and install them again. The reason is that it is possible that the game is responding to a card that you installed it with( such as warcraft 3 TFT: ininstall WC3 ROC and TFT versions then install them again and you will see the visual change) BUT!, for me the visual change is noticable except i still get the constant freezing. so for those people with the graphics only problem here you go but people with the game freeze problem still try this but if it doesnt work keep lookin, or try some of the people in the computer section of the yellow pages...:|

I had that exact problem, and i had it for over 7 months. I almost gave up and chucked the card into the bin but then i thought of something. The card is very powerfull and takes a fair amount of power so i tried to get a better power suply, so i got a 350w to replace the old 250w and suddenly it all worked smooth. I am not saying that this is the fix for your problem, there could be lots of simmilar problems with differnet fixes, but this is what worked for me and a 350w power supply is quite cheap, so i sugest giving it a try. Also make sure the computer or geforce card are not overheating, it could be a cause too.

Are you saying Higher Watts will make the Geforce card Hotter

I have a 400W PSU and Asus V9900 Geforce FX5880 and it is red hot (the fan is moving) the Card works ok

How can I check the temp and what temp should it run at (temp in normal mode not when running games)
