I ran into a problem. My old computer had Windows ME on it and we were having some problems. So a tech told me to install a different O/S. So i did.. They told me just to install Windows 2000 on top of Windows ME. Ok done no problems now. until.. I recently was doing some stuff (work related) when I needed a file/pic cd that i had burned to back up my files. I had used this disk several times before with the old computer it was fine. Now im trying to use it on my Windows XP and it treats it like a blank disk. My question is, someone told me that i could get the info off my old computer since i didnt manually delete it myself, that it was covered up by windows200. Is this correct? Is there a way I can get my files back??

For part of your question I will suggest a tool called ISObuster, it's free, and will read your disk regardless of what windows says. Get it here!

You will be able to read the disk threw this program.
