Hi, I just built a rig with similar spec and have found that the Intel Cooler that comes with the processor works perfectly, and indeed very quietly.

yea i'm planning to get a new cpu heatsink and fan off newegg for my e6400 core 2 duo and gigabyte 965p-S3 rev 1.0 mobo. any suggestions on which one is the best? :4-dontkno

i do use that now, but it runs at 45c-50c, isnt that hot?
Do you have an intake fan and output fan at front and back of your rig?
IF so, and you really want a new decent hsf, then i'd recommend coolermaster, akasa or the arctic series..............but check those websites to ensure that the one you purchase is fit enough for your processor.
These sites will give you a list of what coolers can handle what processors.
Do a little homework.............it aint hard, and can actually be fun.
