Need a replacement PSU for a ATX-400TD

2487 Views 11 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Tyree
Hi

I have a Dell desktop PC which uses a X Power ATX-400TD PSU. The fan has developed a serious rattle and although the PSU and PC work I'd rather not have to put up with the constant noise.

As I cannot track down an identical replacement, can anyone recommend an alternative?

Many thanks

Gav

Model Number of the Dell PC?
Are you using Onboard Graphics or a dedicated GPU?
Hi sorry for the delay

The PC in question is Dell Dimension and uses a NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT graphics card not anonboard one.

Does this help you?

Many thanks

Gavin
Which dell desktop? Some of the DELLS have a funky power supply panel that keeps a lot of standard power supplies from being fitted, its easy to remove a bit of the backing metal with tin snips but it is still something that should be noted.
Dell makes a wide variety of "Dimension" models. We need the complete Model Number of the PC.
Hi

Sorry for the delay, the PC has gone to another location and I can't check the details you want. will report back asap.

OK and thanks for the update.
Hi

I have the PC with me now. It is not a Dell (the cabinet just makes it look like one). It is a custom built PC (quite a decent one).

PSU Details:

X-POWER ATX400TD
AC input 230Vac 50Hz 5a

DC Output MAX.A

+3.3v 30a
+5v 28a
+12v 17a
-5v 1a
-12v 1a
+5vsb 2a

Max 400W

Pentium4 /3Ghz ready

Is that enough for you to advise me? Please let me know if I can provide further info.

Many thanks

Gavin

Antec PSU's are not recommended because they frequently change suppliers making them unreliable.
