I'm looking to get another computer for x-mas to go along with my other. I'm gonna use it for some gaming and thats about it, the other computer handles everything else. I just need it to last me about a year and a half til I graduate from HS. All I need is the internal parts but the HDD. I got the LCD monitor and Antec case covered already.

I don't need it to run games at great settings, just enough to run the latest for the next 1 1/2.

I've got questions about the Video card and the quality of the PSU, but I THINK everything else is good? I don't want to go over 500$ really.

GIGABYTE AM2 nForce 570 SLI

EVGA GeForce 7600GT

OCZ GameXStream 600W

G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+

Now if I bought 2 of those 7600s and ran them in SLI you think I could pull that off? Or Should I go for a dx10 card like the 8600?

yea even two of those 7600's are not gonna be as good as an 8600. get the 8600 itll last you much longer. plus you will want that directx 10. Or an 8800 would even be better, there coming down in price lately.

also check out the radeon 3870, first directx 10.1 card and shader model 4.1 . And itll work well with your amd cpu.

If you want it to last for a year and a half , you better get the dx10. All the good games next year will be dx10 and while some may support dx9 you will want that dx10 compatible system. Think about it, a year from now dx9 will be history like dx8, Even if the card isnt as powerful remember you can always buy another one later on and two 8600's will be faster then two 7600's.

I can go up a bit if necessary, although I don't know if it'd be worth it or not.

Would it be better to buy a 8600 or to buy a 8600GTS?

And what about the PSU, I've ehard it was a good brand but I really don't know.
