NAV2003 auto-protect troubles

2065 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  jonjacobik
I installed NAV 2003 on windows XP and it won't run the auto-protect or email scanning functions. I have live updated and everything is up to date. i checked with the support site for norton products and it just says to basically to uninstall and reinstall. i've done that 6 times and it still wont' work. I've done the klez virus removal and it found nothing and i've scanned my computer for virus's but found nothing either. Can someone help? Also i can't get the symantic event manager to run in ctrl panel>administration tools>services... and i think thats part of the problem.

If you disabled task manager it won't work.................
Also, at least with W2K, task manager won't schedule a task for an account with a blank password. It'll accept the parameters and tell you the task is scheduled, but it won't run! It took me awhile to figure that one out. :D
Yeah i know it won't run without the event manager, but i can't get it started, when i hit the start button it says something about an error code-1.. i dunno. what is this about a password? i've never needed a password for norton anti-virus 2003 before...
The password is on the account that invokes the scheduled task, for Norton AV, I would assume that would be the user that installed it, but I've never actually checked.
Boot the NAV disk and run the time-consuming virus detect program outside the Windows environment. My bet is you have a virus preventing NAV from working properly.
