for a really long time, almost a year has gone by, but theres no good solution in sight.
I've gone to other websites about this problem, but noone seemed to give me clear answers (mostly because I tried the solutions that they suggested before they even spoke to me about it.) Hopefully, you guys can save me ^_^.
I have an HP Pavilion zv6000 series comp.
-Win XP OS, SP2
- AMD Athlon 64 processor, 1.0 GHz
- 1GB ram
- ATI Radeon Xpress 200 graphics card
- 120 GB hard drive (i doubt that matters, but just in case)
It started in late December of last year. The computer began to shock me (or vice versa, it was winter and wearing jackets make me produce static of course...) Pretty soon, I would have to touch another metallic object before touching my comp so that I wouldn't have to get shocked.
Three months later, the processor was having a hard time while i was playing PC games. The games' frame rates dropped insanely low, if i could guess, id say 3-6 frames per-second (one was Counter Strike source), so I decided to play less graphics-intensive games, like roller coaster tycoon, but the same problem continued.(please keep in mind that i always update all the drivers to this comp.)
I decided to investigate and look at task manager while playing coaster tycoon, and it showed me that the CPU usage it 100%, which struck me as odd, being that the game is far older than the computer by several years. I thought there was something wrong with the OS, so i thought be re-installing the OS, things should return to normal, but that was ultimately pointless.
so, that being said, i know theres a hardware issue involved...I have a few ideas on what could be wrong, but I don't want to go on and try to solve it without knowing exactly, fearing that i may end up destroying it in the end.
I have only two questions:
- could it be the power supply?
- would it mean replacing the processor altogether?
