My mother has a compaq presario 65 desktop, model # NA850. About 4 days ago my sister had some kind of problem on it ( don't know what ), so she used the 5 disc recovery on it. When she was done she could not get on the Internet. I was there all day today trying different things. I tried uninstalling the drivers, & reinstalling the drivers on the connections to no avail. I called comcast, & they tried to help. I used the 5 disc thing 4 times, did not help. I downloaded AVG on my laptop copied to disc then put it on the compaq. I ran it a found a virus that it deleted (downloader.presario.A). I still can not get on the Internet, I put www,goggle.com on the home page of Internet explorer. when I open IE it takes me to some kind of add, however it will not even load that page totally.
My question is how can I complete wipe XP clean. I thought I did that when using the recovery disc`s, because it said I would lose all the old data with reformat.
