My ASUS laptop is having trouble detecting wifi connections but it’s not always like that. Sometimes it can detect our home WiFi and I’d go about my day and use it but the problem stated above have occurred about 4 times already in the past month and I don’t know how to fix it.

Normally it can detect our home WiFi, and 2 other WiFi connections from our neighbors but when it acts up it shows nothing.

I have troubleshooted and from what I got my network adapter "Qualcomm Atheros AR956x Wireless Network Adapter" becomes "disabled" or hidden? I tried uninstalling the said driver and then restarting but it takes so many restarts before I actually see the network adapter again.

Please let me know what to do or at least what is wrong with my laptop so that I know what to say to the repair shop if it needs to be repaired.

Check and see if there is a manual button for WIFI and that might be getting pressed. But if that was the case it would say something like "manually switched off" or "WIFI disabled by hardware switch". In any case do check and see if that's the case, so that you can rule out that possibility.

Control Panel > Device Manager > Network Adapters, expand, find your wireless adapter.

Is there a red cross or a yellow exclamation mark beside your wireless adapter?

If yes - red cross - right click on wireless adapter, click on properties. New box will pop-up, look for Device status box. If it states device has been disabled, enable device (click cancel, then right click on wireless adapter, click on enable).

Check if your Wifi is working.

If yes - yellow exclamation mark, go to the Asus website and download the latest wireless adapter drivers for your model laptop and OS. Update the drivers then see if your WiFI is working.

]. I tried to connect to my LAN just to update the driver but it's already updated. My problem the network adapter becomes hidden sometimes and it doesn't work.

You need to turn off Airplane mode as this will disconect the wifi.
