My internet has become really slow

Hi all. Recently my internet speed has decreased dramatically. It's not the best but it's whats available in my area. I am supposed to get 5mbps down and 1 mbps up. I have done speed tests and it shows i am currently getting 0.97mbps down and 0.77mbps up. I have no idea why this is happening. I phoned my internet provider and they said it was all fine on their side. They have even sent me out a new router which i have up and running. No improvement what so ever. I have run a virus check, flushed the dns, cleared caches, and even installed new browsers. I am stumped.

Here are my speedtest.net results:

If anyone could help that would be great!

how are you connected to the router - wireless or cable

is the router and modem separate ?
Whats the make and models of router/modem

There maybe a status page in the router configuration pages which provide the speeds

I would connect a cable to the modem or modem/router combination and do a
Speedtest.net by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Test
and
Pingtest.net - The Global Broadband Quality Test
a problem from the router back to the ISP
so it maybe anything in that route

Router>cable>filter>telephone socket>line - out to the street and back to the ISP

one thing to do
would be to minimise down to just one socket

Are you UK based as its EE
if so is this via the Telephone line
and then next do you have the router on the MAIN BT Socket
NTE5 BT Master Socket - Remove lower faceplate to reveal TEST socket - Best Broadband connection

if so
remove the filter
remove the base plate
connect the router directly to the Test Socket and test speed again

That will eliminate the internal house wiring and just leave the master socket cable out to the exchange > and on to the ISP
