I am getting constant popups from spywareguard saying a BHO (mllji.dll) has been added. I click on "remove the BHO" and it just pops right back up. I've tried deleting the file but it can't be deleted. Also, I ran housecall and it found Java ByTever.A, Troj Dloader.LT, and Troj QLogic.A. It said they were all non-cleanable. Here's my HJT log...

Please do the following:

Download & immediately run - L2MFix.exe
Click "Install" to extract the contents to a newly created folder.

Close all other opened programs before running this tool

From within the newly created folder, locate & run L2mfix.bat
Select option #1 - Run Find Log - by typing 1
This will scan your computer and it may appear as if nothing is happening for a period of few minutes. When it has finished, you will be presented with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

If you receive an error - \system32\Autoexec.nt is not suitable for running MS-Dos applications, you will need to visit this website to download additional files.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Please print these instructions out for use in Safe Mode.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop. Double-click on it to extract the files to a new folder on your desktop.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode.
Restart your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears.
Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.

Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
At the introductory screen, press <Enter> to proceed.
When asked to type in a filepath, please key this in:
  • C:\WINDOWS\system32\geedd.dll
Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.

Next you will be asked to type in a second filepath.
At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
  • C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddeeg.*
This will be the vundo filename spelt backwards. for example if the vundo dll was vundo.dll you would have the user enter odnuv.*

Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:
  • O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00DBDAC8-4691-4797-8E6A-7C6AB89BC441} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\mllji.dll
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00DBDAC8-4691-4797-8E6A-7C6AB89BC441} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\geedd.dll
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: geedd - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\geedd.dll
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: mllji - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\mllji.dll
After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
Pressing any key will cause a "Blue Screen of Death" this is normal, do not worry!

Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.

Download and install CleanUp!

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Delete Prefetch files
  • Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Ok, I ran into a couple of problems doing that. After I ran vundofix and then HJT, the only item on the list was O20 - Winlogon Notify: geedd - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\geedd.dll. The other 3 things weren't there. And the link to ActiveScan didn't work. I got a "page cannot be found". So here's my HJT log without running ActiveScan...

Have HijackThis fix this entry:

O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {52B1DFC7-AAFC-4362-B103-868B0683C697} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\geedd.dll (file missing)

Sorry about the bad link. Here's a proper one...

Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan
  1. Click Scan your PC & a 'pop up' window shall appear. *ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it
  2. Click Scan Now
  3. Enter your e-mail address & click Scan Now ...begins downloading 8 MB Panda's ActiveX controls
Begin the scan by selecting My Computer
  • If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report.
  • Click on see report. Then click Save report
Post the contents of the report in your next reply

*You needn't remain online while it's doing the scan but you have to re-connect after it has finished to see the report.
*Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan

Download Trend Micro™ Anti-Spyware (by clicking the "Scan and Clean your PC" button).
  • Double-click the tmas-web-scan.exe icon
  • It will say "Loading TrendMicro definitions".
  • Click "Start Scan"
After it's done scanning, click "Scan Results"

  • Click Exit.
Reboot your computer. I then need you to repeat the same procedure above again... using the TrendMicro tool. I need the log from the second scan/clean...NOT the first...as this will contain what’s left in the system.

In place of the TrendMicro icon will be a text file called "Antispyware.log", please double-click that log and copy the entire contents and paste them here.

Here's the winpfind log...

WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows somethimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. As long as the hard disk light is flashing, the program is still working properly.

WinPFind v1.3.5 - Log file written to "WinPFind.Txt" in the WinPFind folder.
Scan completed on 9/9/2005 1:15:39 PM

The only problem I encountered in doing all of that was uninstalling My Search. It wasn't on the list of programs in the control panel.

Your logs appear irregular. Did you experience any problems when you did the scans?

Both Ewido & WinPfind must be conducted in Safe Mode. They must be run one after the other in the right/proper order.

I apologise but it's necessary that these scans be conducted again.

I require..

1) Ewido (Safe Mode)
2) WinPFind (Safe Mode)
3) Panda (Normal Mode)
4) TrackQoo (Normal Mode)

Ok, I redid those in that order. I thought I did before but could've made a mistake. Here's the HJT log...

I have attached a file to this post - delbat.txt
Download it & rename it "delbat.BAT" (inclusive of the quotes)
Make sure you do not mistakenly rename it as delbat.BAT.txt (double extensions)
Run the file by double-clicking it
when it finishes, it shall produce a log located at C:\ntntmon.txt.
Please post it's content in your next post.
