Whatever it is its causing unblockable pop ups to appear randomly much to my annoyance and placing annoying icons in the taskbar... Mcafee, AOL Spyware protection, Windows defender and AVG have failed to prevent these...

Here's the log:

Hello razthehedgehog,

Before we begin, please move HiJackThis to it's own folder, like c:\HJT. While we’re cleaning your system, various tools used will clean the temp folder which, with HiJackThis in it's current location, we'll lose both the program and the backups it creates. These backups are important in case we need to restore any 'fixed' entry(s) later.

Once you've moved HijackThis---The infection you have recognizes HijackThis and prevents HJT from reading the registry locations where it resides as well as hiding other infections in those locations.

I'd like you to rename HijackThis.exe to raz.exe.
  • Navigate to the location you moved HijackThis to.
  • Right click on HijackThis.exe
  • Select 'Rename'
  • Type in raz.exe
  • Press Enter.

Run a scan with the raz.exe and post that log here so we can get started.

Hiya,

You've got quite a bit going on here so please be prepared that this will take more than 1 round to erradicate the infections properly.

Please copy this page to Notepad and save to your desktop for reference as you will not have any browsers open while you are carrying out portions of these instructions.

It is IMPORTANT that you don't miss a step & perform everything in the correct order/sequence.

***************************************************

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.

-------------------------------------

Download Combofix and save it to your desktop.

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

-------------------------------------

Close any open browsers.

-------------------------------------

Go to <<Start>> then <<Run>> then copy/paste the following red text into the Run box then click OK

"%userprofile%\desktop\combofix.exe" /wow-drv Client IP-IPX /v mljghec dmingaxq drvlor tsbonwhl mlljj

When finished, it shall produce a log for you that will ultimately be named ComboFix2.txt. We'll need that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

----------------------------------------------------

Please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Use the up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode and press Enter.
5) Login with your usual account. Make sure to close any open browsers.

----------------------------------------------------

Open HijackThis and click on 'Do a System Scan Only'. Check the following entries:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CTDrive] rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\drvlor.dll,startup
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DllRunning] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\tsbonwhl.dll",setvm

Click 'Fix Checked' and close HijackThis.

----------------------------------------------------

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab:
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading:
* select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
*Also, make sure there is no checkmark beside Hide file extensions for known file types.
* Click OK.
----------------------------------------------------

Using My Computer, navigate to and delete the following File

C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchosts.exe <--Careful! Note the spelling of this file svchosts.exe. Do not delete the legit svchost.exe.

----------------------------------------------------

Double-click on SmitfraudFix.exe to start the tool.
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.
The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question "Replace infected file?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually. Reboot into Normal Windows.

The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: (C:rapport.txt) or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

----------------------------------------------------

Next go to Control Panel click Display>Desktop>Customize Desktop>Web> Now, Uncheck Everything and delete if present:
· "Security Info"
· "Warning Message"
· "Security Desktop"
· "Warning Homepage"
· "Desktop Uninstall"

Also make sure the 'Lock desktop items' box is unticked. Click OK, and then Click Apply, then OK.

----------------------------------------------------

Empty the Recycle Bin by right-clicking the Recycle Bin icon on your Desktop, and then clicking Empty Recycle Bin.

----------------------------------------------------

Close ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders. Run AVG Anti-Spyware with it's updated definitions: IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while AVG Anti-Spyware is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning proccess:
Run AVG Anti-Spyware with it's updated definitions:(...it's important that all windows must be closed)
  • Click Scanner
  • Click on the Scan tab
  • Click Complete System Scan to begin scanning.
Once the scan is complete do the following:
  • If you have any infections you will prompted, **Please ensure it is set to Quarantine then select "Apply all actions"
  • Once finished, click the Save report button, then click Save Report As and save it to your desktop. (make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important).
**AVG Anti-Spyware is compatible with most AV and anti-spyware products, and the free version will continue to be useful as a second anti-malware scanner.

----------------------------------------------------

Reboot into Normal Mode.

----------------------------------------------------

Double-click on SmitfraudFix.exe to start the tool.
Select option #3 - Delete Trusted zone by typing 3 and press Enter
Answer Yes to the question "Restore Trusted Zone ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.

----------------------------------------------------

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you.

Post the ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

----------------------------------------------------

Then post the following logs in your next reply...

ComboFix2.txt
c:\rapport.txt
AVG A/S log
ComboFix.txt
New Hijackthis log

Do you have access to another computer? Those are both very small tools--download them to any removable media and transfer them to this infected system.

Exactly what happens when you click on those links?

Please give me a few minutes to attach combofix to this thread--we'll see if you can obtain the tool that way.
