we never got a windows xp cd it is built into the laptop need to know a way how to format with out the cd because it has windows built into it but thanks

Hello andrewclare,

Try tapping the F10 key as soon as the laptop is powered on.

This should open the System Recovery menu.

i tryed the f10 it does nothing it says f11 to press but the still not helping me with this i need to wipe my hard drive from scratch

When you press F11 does anything happen at all.

If you are unable to access the recovery partition then see if you can order the recovery

disc from the manufacturer.
