Multi-touch touchpad issues after opening PDF file

Hi all,

I just figured out that whenever I open a PDF file, whether it be within a browser window (I use the newest version of FireFox, 4.0), as a downloaded file, or even just opening Adobe Reader 9.4.3 on my computer, the program/PDF file window freezes for at least 20 seconds to a minute or so, then unfreezes and lets me continue with my work. Everything goes back to normal, except for the features my multi-touch touch pad has, such as scrolling and zooming in and out.
I checked for updates using Adobe Reader's Help Menu link, but it said there were none. This issue is pretty annoying because the only thing that seems to solve it is if I restart my computer, and it happens at least a few times a week if not more. Any idea why this is happening and what I can do to fix it or prevent it?
