I just got a new laptop and everytime I used to try to sync files to my mp3 player windows media player told me that it wasn't compatible with the driver on it. On my old desktop it always worked with the same version of windows media player. So i tried to fix it, but now it won't even recognize the player, it's a philips gogear.

I think it might be my usb ports, does anyone know how I could check and see if they're working right?

If you think it might be the USB ports, maybe you could try using another USB device. If you have a keyboard, mouse, or a memory stick around, you could try plugging them in and see if it detects it. Also, I doubt this has anything to do with it, but is the USB port the same? I had problems because my 2.0 port wasn't compatible with my desktop ports (they're were 1.0 or something of the like). My desktop was much older than my laptop, that's why I mention that.
