So I've been having this problem intermittently for around 2 months, it used to be minor but has progressed to full blown hair tearing now.

Randomly (there seems to be no reason for setting it off) My webpages will suddenly stop loading, I could be half way through a website, or loading a new one, it does not seem to matter.

I will get

The connection was reset

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Sometimes I can no longer load anything at all, sometimes it will just be that website that I can no longer load, sometimes it will be some pages will not load and some still work fine.

Up until right now, I used to be able to reset the router and I could then again browse websites, until the problem would resurface in another 2-30 minutes, it really seems totally random. However now it seems I can no longer access some websites even after restarting the router several times. This has happened with a myriad of websites, such as facebook, google.com trademe.co.nz (nz trading website) Kongregate.com and the list goes on. It seems to be totally random as to which sites it will affect at any given time

Really had enough of this and need to find out what is going on. Any help / suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

Sincerely
Murdoch

Hello, welcome to TSF,

Have you tried updating your Mozilla Firefox to Version 10+?
What type of internet connection do you have?
What are you computer specs? List as much as you can, try to include brand names, power supply wattage, video card, or Computer Pre-Build Model #.

Have you attempted to use any other browsers, to ensure that it's not your computer's fault?

Thanks for such a fast reply!

Firefox is version 10.0

I'm from NZ its a standard broadband connection. 1mbps download give or take. none of my specs have changed in the last year.

Computer is an Acer Aspire T180
2ghz Processor, 3gb of ram, Xfx GTX9800+ 512mb graphics card, PSU is 1 year old 450W.

I thought it may have been a virus/spyware as nothing has changed hardware wise to cause this, so far as I know. I'm the only one who uses the computer.

*edit* Yes I have used Google Chrome, IE, Opera and I currently use mozilla, when one goes down they all go down, if its one specific website, none of them can get that specific website.

Just going to update this. Just suddenly got a new error. Same result I guess, can't load pages.

(Tab Title) Network Error

Network Error (dns_server_failure)

Your request could not be processed because an error occurred contacting the DNS server. The DNS server may be temporarily unavailable, or there could be a network problem.
For assistance, contact your network support team.

This is beyond confusing now, this is the first time this particular error has occurred. At this stage I don't know if the other errors are still happening, I WAS having a good run up until now.

Hoping someone can help me out with this sooner or later.

Thanks

Considering that you may suspect a virus as the cause of this, I would make a new post in the Virus Removal thread, but instead of re-tying everything, just add a URL link to this thread in it (so people can just come here and read your stats/problems).

I don't think I, personally can help too much because I'm not really experienced with DNS servers enough to make any determinations. I'm pretty sure you'll get some prompt help in the anti virus thread, however.
