Mouse Problems in XP

530 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  mauilisa
I'm having problems with a mouse jumping and stalling. Sometimes I'll open a browser and I can click once on something. Then I have to use my keyboard to go to another window or program, then go back to the browser and I can click a couple more times. Sometimes I won't have my hand on the mouse and the curser will jump a couple of inches to another position, not to click anything. Things I've tried: IE, Firefox, Safari. Wireless optical, wired optical, (I don't have a ball mouse to try). Slick black mousepad, plain rubber black mousepad, brown clipboard. Deleted the driver in device manager, restarted the computer. All to no avail. Any ideas? Thank you.

PC Specs?
PreBuilt--Brand name & Model Number
Custom Build--Brand & Model of Mobo-CPU-RAM-Graphics-PSU.
Are the Mice you have tried USB? Have you tried a different USB Port? Have you tried a PS/2 Mouse?
Are there any yellow exclamation marks in Device manager in the Universal Serial Bus Controllers section?
Dell Dimension 5150, P4 3.2hgz, 1gb ram.
One mouse is usb; the other is wireless using a usb connection. I have tried moving to different usb ports. The pc doesn't have a ps2 connection. There are no yellow exclamation marks in device manager.
