I recently installed windows 7 ult x64. When I start up my computer and I go to use my mouse to open up a window my left click (or right click) does not work. My mouse says its plugged in and I can move the cursor around the screen but my clicking does not affect any of my windows. That is until I open task manager with my keyboard, and end explorer.exe it immediatly works after that. I then restart explorer.exe and I have the problem again. 1 our of 4 times it will work when I restart explorer.exe. This problem happened on vista ult x64 as well. I have installed all the updates. I have a Razer Deathadder gaming mouse. It has latest driver and pretty new firmware. (newer updates dont affect any compatibility I read). I tried to update firmware anyways and it always says failed to install device driver on bottom right of my windows screen. PLEASE help it really aggrivates me. Its been going on for quite a while.

Sorry for the late reply. My mouse is USB. my mobo does not have a ps2 mouse connection in it. (evga x58). I am not using a USB hub either. There is only one instance of explorer.exe running in task manager.

Sorry for the major bump, but I didn't feel like making a new thread. I also have this problem. Exactly the same specs as this guy (Win7 Ultimate 64 and Razer Deathadder)

Re-opening explorer.exe also helps. I was creeped out when I read this post, it was like me in the future :D

Thank you.
